Fahrettin Oylum, Vice President of MÜSİAD Sector Boards Commission and CEO of Teknopalas Yüksek Teknoloji A.Ş., made important statements about MÜSİAD Expo 2022. With the pandemic in the world, the importance of domestic and national production has become much clearer. Fahrettin Oylum emphasized that Turkey has made good use of the digital transformation process experienced all over the world in recent years. Oylum said, “Now we will start to hear the names of Turkish IT companies more in the global arena.”
THE IMPORTANCE OF DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL PRODUCTION UNDERSTOOD!
Fahrettin Oylum, Vice President of MUSIAD Sector Boards Commission, stated that as Turkey, we have made good use of the digital transformation process experienced all over the world in recent years,” Thanks to the steps taken to encourage the private sector, we have started to provide hundreds of products that countries need in the digital transformation process. In order to be better, we need to use our products in the global market. At this stage, we have a lot of work to do as sector representatives. We have seen the importance of domestic and national production even more clearly during the pandemic. The new economy model launched in this process brought about the revitalization of the manufacturing economy. Our export figures already show this with records. However, if we can combine the manufacturing economy with the innovation economy, we will radically solve the current account deficit problem.” He said.
TURNING THE PROJECT INTO A PRODUCT WILL GROW THE SECTOR
Oylum emphasized the importance of producing, consuming what they produce domestically and selling it to foreign markets, and continued as follows: “If you pay attention in this process, consuming what we produce domestically creates an accelerating effect for our producers in the global market. We have been trying to keep this issue on the agenda for many years in the IT sector. The transformation of our companies from project to productization, and their going to foreign markets with “products” (the transformation from project to product is very valuable for us) with the knowledge they have gained domestically during this transformation process will accelerate the growth of the sector.”
WE WILL HEAR MORE ABOUT OUR COMPANIES GLOBALLY
Fahrettin Oylum stated that we have not yet seen the economic impact of the steps taken in the field of R&D and innovation, and made the following suggestions “If we can transfer the successes we have achieved especially in the defense industry to civilian technologies, and then accelerate the conversion of this transformation power into exports, we will be able to logarithmically increase sectoral growth after the transformation. E-turquality supports will accelerate the expansion of IT companies to the global market. The software committee under the service exporters’ association established within the Turkish Exporters’ Center (TIM) is the largest committee in terms of the number of members, and this alone shows us how eager the sector players are to go global. In addition, a digital technologies business council was established within the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), the center of global commercial diplomacy in Turkey. From now on, we will start to hear the names of Turkish IT companies more in the global arena.”
WE WILL LISTEN TO ENTREPRENEURS
Fahrettin Oylum pointed out that MÜSİAD EXPO is the largest mixed fair in the region and that companies from every sector will take their place in a large market of 20 thousand square meters. Oylum said, “Imagine a fair where both local and foreign customers and suppliers will talk business and make contracts for 4 days under the same roof. It will host both our local entrepreneurs and foreign entrepreneurs who want to use Turkey as a hub to take advantage of this opportunity that comes every two years. We will also have a stage especially in the 8th hall. Here we will have the chance to listen to entrepreneurs and investors. In this area where the product itself is companies, we will see companies looking for investors on one side and investors looking for entrepreneurs to invest right next to them. In this area, which is the last point where the commodity transforms, we will see that Startup shares are not marketed as a product.”
